In the scorching heat of a Friday morning, Bernien FC made its debut at the notorious Schrödinger Cup - Innsbruck’s annual football tournament that brings together the entire physics community, and the competition is fierce.
The start was picture-perfect: a 7:0 victory against Astro FC, earned through clean, technical football. In the second match, Bernien FC faced Inter Ference, last year’s champions, who were eager to defend their title. After a couple of small lapses, Inter Ference scored two early goals. Unshaken, Bernien FC pulled one back after the change of sides, but it wasn’t enough, and the game ended with a 1:2.
In the group stage, Bernien FC finished 5th place and advanced to the knockout round. Against The Usual Suspects, they lost 1:2, ending their debut tournament in 7th place overall. After the games, regarding the team's performance, coach Hannes stated: “Great team.”
Most importantly, everyone had a lot of fun that day and Bernien FC is already looking forward to returning next year for an even more fun and exciting football experience!
