The Bernien Lab keeps growing ever so slighty with Jana, Shuo and Ruiyang joining the dual-species quantum computing and simulation efforts. We celebrated this special occasion with a dinner. We look forward to your awesome contributions! However, sadly we will have to say goodbye to Zifeng, who contributed greatly to our quantum networking efforts.
Welcome our new interns:
- Shuo, who is joining as a research intern from Tsinghua University. From Tsinghua, he brings previous experience with quantum networking in Luming Duans group. Now here, Shuo will run simulations on non-destructive readout to find the best working parameters and finally characterize this scheme on our machines!
- Ruiyang, who is also an intern from Tsinghua University. He gathered plenty of hands-on experience with ions during his time with Luming Duan. In the Bernien Lab, Ruiyang will help us understand pair interactions of rubidium and caesium by numerical calculations.
The latest PhD addition:
- Jana Bonet Fernández, who is joining us from ICFO, where she worked on laser stabilization systems for Rydberg superatom experiments. Jana will strengthen the new dual-species laboratory with her desire to learn more about Rydberg interactions.
Welcome everyone!
Sadly, we also have to say goodbye to Zifeng. Zifeng has been a part of our group since the move to Innsbruck in early August. He contributed greatly to our understanding of heating lasers on our nanophotonic cavities. For this, he had to take a deep dive into COMSOL simulations as well as temperature dependence of optical properties. Back at USTC, he will continue as a research intern before finishing his Bachelor's degree.
We wish you all the best and hope to interact again soon!
